I was in the very first class of Biocore, and I have often thought how my decision to sign up has affected my life. It was a heady experience, being one of 20 or so undergrads with access to so many brilliant minds. We were treated like family members. I still remember our very first class was a detailed lecture on the optics of microscopy by Walt Plaut.
